Learn How To Create an FM8 Mid Range Bass
Learn how to create an FM8 mid range bass that’s perfect for drops. This type of bass will work with Progressive House and Electro House.
Creating an FM8 mid range bass is pretty straight forward. FM8 is a great synthesizer for these types of bass sounds.
If you’re wondering what constitutes as a mid range bass, it’s any sound that lives in the low mids of the frequency spectrum. In sub heavy genres like dubstep and progressive where the kick drum or even a sub bass is filling out the low end of the spectrum, using another low range bass would just muddy up a mix. It’s technically in-between a lead and a bass in the audio spectrum. For instance, a lot of dubstep wobbles fill out the mid range.
To create an FM8 mid range bass, Johnny activates 4 Operators and routes them to the filter. He uses a few different waveforms to get a well rounded sound. One formant waveform, a PWM and a Sine wave all help make the sound bigger and fuller.
Finally, applying some Peak and Shelving EQ’s to help bring out some mid range resonance and cut the low end will help make your FM8 mid range bass fit in the mix a little better.
