Feedback is an essential part of modern music, and can add so much character and life to a recording as well as create a much more ‘real’ or ‘live’ feel. These things are important in producing interesting and organic music that will capture the attention of your audience time and time again. When you add elements like this to your productions, what you are really doing is making is lets digital and more analog, something many people strive for in all of their sound design projects.
Brian shows how to not only control the feedback, but also create a much more expressive sound using the envelope tools and effects available to you in FM8. The simple addition of something like reverb or delay in the frequency modulation synthesis process can change a sound like feedback dramatically and allows you to truly emulate the effect of guitar feedback through an amplifier quite easily and with more authenticity than most other forms of sound design.
