Build Sequenced Wobbles Using The FM8 Envelopes
In part 3 of this month’s series learn how to get creative and use the FM8 envelopes to create huge a sequenced wobble preset.
So far in Part 1 and Part 2 Johnny showed us how to grasp the basics of the FM8 envelopes and how to use them to create rhythmic sequences that sound a little like arpeggios without even touch the FM8 Arpeggiator. In this tutorial, learn how to use the FM8 envelopes to create a truly unique wobble sound.
There is a very good reason why FM8 is the soft synth of choice for a lot of dubstep producers and it’s in large part because of the envelopes and their flexibility. There are not too many synths that allow you to create seemingly endless ADSR points as well as loop points and modulation destinations. Also, FM8 has eight envelopes. To compare, most soft synths have four and some even have less. Johhny creates a very unique envelope for a few of the operators and uses it to create a wobble sound that almost has a sequenced feel to it. In FM8, this takes a few clicks but in other synths it would most likely require modulation.
