Building Scary FX Sounds With Absynth
Time to make some scary FX in Absynth, I found the first one!
This week I decided to take a closer look at the factory samples in Absynth. I normally don’t use these that much but now I discovered some that are pretty great! I chose ”Glass Broken” for this sound and loaded it up in granular mode. I’ve set the timing to 10 and the start to 0% but this is not set in stone, try some different settings and you’ll get a lot of cool variations.
Once you’ve done that you can move straight to the FX section, I also included a filter inside the path first but that is really not necessary. In the FX panel I chose the all time favourite Aetherizer and messed with the settings a bit, by now this should be familiar to you.
This one is also something to experiment with, but if you’re not sure what you’re doing try setting the feedback to 70, use a bandpass filter and try some different transpositions, that should get you started. After that you can bounce the sound down to audio, reverse it, filter it, anything you’d like!
So have fun with this little trick, try some different samples, and let me know if you find something cool! Good luck!
