Recycle your Drumloops in Absynth 5
Ever wanted to use your old and familiar drum loops in Absynth 5 in a new way, here’s how!
We start of by choosing a regular old drum loop, this can be anything that you like (but you don’t even have to like it!).
You can check the beat first or you can just throw it in Absynth right away. The next step is to freeze the sample by setting the time parameter to Zero. Now we can use the start button to scroll through the sample/loop and search for sounds that we like.
Once all this is done we insert a filter after the OSC module in Absynth and draw in the modulation. With this filter envelope you are going to make your rhythm, so spend some time with this! After that all the hard work is done it’s time to have some fun with the result.
Try tweaking the parameters on the granular page for example, or modulate the wet control on the FX section, this will definitely get you started on a nice sound and you decide for yourself where you want to take it from here!
One last cool thing would be to modulate the sample start to change the sound slightly over time, you can even rebuild the whole drum loop in a different order with this envelope. Awesome!
