Master The Wave Window in Absynth 5
When it comes to wave editing Absynth is your guy! (girl?) There is a lot of great stuff you can do in the Wave-window besides drawing the waves. You can see and draw the harmonics, apply filters and effects and much more!
Draw your own waveforms! Sounds like a nerdy thing to do, but it’s really quite awesome! By drawing your own waves you’ll get a better understanding of synthesis in general and you’ll be working more towards the sounds that you want instead off trying to form a existing sounds into something that you want! This means that the core of your sound is going to be a lot stronger and more suited for your purposes. The thing that I like the most in Absynth is that you have two windows where you can edit the waves, in the first one you draw the wave yourself, what you see is really what you get here. The other window shows the harmonics and the phase relationship between the harmonics, its a good idea to check this window often enough to see which waveforms relate to which harmonics. At the top of both windows you find a lot of options for manipulating the wave, such as filters, FM option, fractalize options, etc. I will be explaining a lot of these options in the future, but for now, just take notice off the wave window, get used to how it works and practice with it, enjoy!
