Creating Melodic Ambient Pads in NI Absynth 5
This week I just wanted to show you a quick but useful way to create melodic pads in Absynth, you can use these throughout your whole track for texture and emotion.
Let’s start out the new year nice and easy with some ambient stuff, Absynth loves this! We start by creating three new oscillators and sending them through all-pass filters to mess with the phase of the sound. It doesn’t really matter which sound sources we use since we’re going to rely heavily on the Aetherizer FX, and this gives a whole different sound anyways.
We then choose different tunings for each oscillator or give them different melodies with the envelopes. In order to keep things simple its advisable to use only one note in your sequencer and choose pitch offsets that make sense, such as 3,5,7,9, 12 etc.
Once you have your basic oscillators set mess with the Aetherizer filter for a while and choose some knobs that you’d like to modulate manually with the macro controls. You could for example set up a simple lowpass filter on the master and create a rhythm with a new envelope, after that use the macro to control the intensity or the speed of the rhythm. Not to difficult and great fun!
